I've heard (can't remember where) that something like a 5 degree incline will not give your heart any trouble getting the blood to your hands, but that above that, it becomes a fight against gravity (and that gravity usually wins). I thought they would be very awkward, but I rode a bike with them once and found they were very comfortable. I think they make the bike a little harder to control, but I favor them over HD-style buckhorns (which are too parallel to the frame for me). Actually, I like the Savage stock buckhorns very well, but I may put taller risers on to get them a little higher.
